10:14 pm - Halloween 2011 in Paris
Finally I can also update and say something about my adventure around Halloween in Paris. I try to update this and my tumblr every once in a while, but I failed for LJ for quite a while.
Keeping this week as short as it gets:
Day 1 Traveling: stuck in Zürich, difficulties finding ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif?v=92.1) timduru's place, meeting titash there, nom nom crêpes fell to bed ASAP
Day2: Partey: good artsy time with BBF, Kralle, pegla, Diti, Neraya, karpour and henriekeg, later Meerkar Manor Dance, Eddie shaked his tail to TimBeats
Day3: Bounce: get ready to bounce on castles, jumpy time
Day4: Halloween: preping for Disneyland, long trip with Djem there, taken care of Hop for this 6 hour suitwalk, Halloween is a blast at Disney, both fun and scary
Day5: Feethurz: whaaa Nutella foodfight!!!; loved to visit Paris, but feet were killing me, exploring the french countryside instead and get a bit of private time with Luri
Day6: DisneyDay: visited Disneyland by day is also a good time, saw Animagique 1st time, in the evening fireworks
Day7: Cleanup+Wayback: Cleaning up Tim's house and off to the airport, quick visit at PizzaHut then leaving directly to Austria
I don't speak french as good as I should, I know that much now. It's enough for communication, but not enough for conversation, which makes a huge difference.
I also did a journal with drawings on my trip. I'll link it when I did the finishing picture, but for now there's this sneakpeak

I decided to start a seperate artblog at Blogspot instead of mixing personal life and art here. I'll try to update more here too but I'm kept busy here with work and studies.
Soon I'll put up a note for Xmas cards as Christmas approaches.

01:25 pm - [Tutorial] Eduroam on Android
I just did a lil research and came up with a little way to get into Eduroam (secure WiFi network) at the Technical University Vienna (TU Wien).
It works suprisingly easy but it took me a lil googling to find everything needed. And since the official Eduroam site here is kinda unhelpful and most people suggest installing wpa_supplicant, I thought I'd share this Android-native method.
Basic: You are a student on the Technical university or have an account on the Eduroam network. Also you have a Android phone that can connect to a WPA Enterprise WiFi, v2.0 and less can't do that well, I think.
I tried this with a G1/dream that runs Android 2.2 and it works like a charm.
First: You'll need a SSL certificate or Android won't be able to establish the secure connection. Find AddTrust_External_Root.pem in the ssl/cert/ folder of your favorite Linux Distribution (in my case Ubuntu) and open www.realmb.com/droidCert/ . Follow the instructions on this website and you're good to go. You will be prompted with entering a new password and also entering a name for the newly downloaded certificate.
in case the link above doesn't work: The website does some minor binary editing of the file header and changes the filename, experienced users can find a tutorial how to change the certificate to .pfx without the website (just in case it's offline by the time you read this) I read about this here
Second: Open the WiFi settings and search for the eduroam network. Once you got it enter the following:
EAP-Method: TTLS (Tunneled Transport Layer Security)
Phase 2: MSCHAPV2
CA-Certificate: Addthrust External root (or however you named the certificate in step 1)
User Certificate: (stays empty)
Identity: e........@student.tuwien.ac.at (as a student of the TU, might be different for international students)
Anonymous Identity: anonymous@student.tuwien.ac.at (dunno if it makes any difference)
Password: your TU Password (as a student of the TU, might be different for international students)
Three: enjoy your secure WiFi in Vienna
UPDATE (4.4.2011): It seems there was some OTA Update that now allows Android 1.6 users to use WPA-Enterprise networks as well, with the same settings. Just follow the instructions above, if eduroam shows up as an "WPA2" network (WPA won't be enough). The OTA update should be installed when you log into Google for the first time when setting up the phone, but I'm not 100% sure.

in my spare breaks I sketched a bit and developed the nasty habit of drawing ACEO cards.
In other news, Eddie McBadger did his premiere at EF16 and just last sunday made his first run in Austria at Comicbörse (atkelar 's report).

I started taking those during my exam time, to be completed the week after Cesfur. I kept this promise, even though I wanted to be faster. Here they are: some 20ies style icons for atkelar nanook123 and Furblefox. I was using my own Old Toon Icon as a conbadge at Cesfur , You should be able to do the same with the final product.

it's been a while since I wrote down my experiences here, I guess
So what's happening, what's THE WORD?
I had some pretty hard exams and I really hope I accomplished'em well since these were my last two real milestones before my final thesis.
While learning I always did some little breaks to draw, which I called #sketchbreak to clear my head.

Right after my last exam, I went to Cesfur on the same day. I had lots of fun, arted quite a bit and talked to interesting people there.
More about that later, I still have to assemble all my thoughts and bundle'em in a con report

01:03 pm - a new toy
on thrusday I went out to get a new tablet. You might have recognized my lack of digital art lately. This was not only due to lack of motivation but also due to lack of a good tool. I'm used to tablets about the size of A4, so I'm stuck with the proffessional line of Wacom. My old Intuos2 from 2002 won't let me draw a straight line anymore.
I came home and was excited enough to try oC again. Fooling around on oC and Skype is sure one killer combo to a good evening.
Thanks to yuchidayena and mrtopdog for joining in. I hope you weren't that disturbed by my silly humor then (I'm listening too much PoinkCast, I guess).
I split the oC into some parts cause there was really much stupidity going on in there

One week (and 2 days) ago I was enjoying some yummy pizza at Confuzzled. About time I do a report. Last week's been a bit busy with a lots of events here and meeting up with friends, who either visited or wanted to see me.
Well taking a lil time to think back.

And so a very nice long weekend and my first visit to the UK ended successfully. I just had porridge and liked it. I hope to return to Confuzzled next year. This time without football fans plz.
