11:06 am - Yamy's selection of cool animals After a visit to the Museum of Natural History I thought I look up all the animlas I sketched there.
some fish | Rufous Rat-kangaroo | European Badger | White-tailed gnu | Hoatzin | Virginia Opossum | Indian giant squirrel | Gharial | Latin names are in the alt attribute. If you know the name of the fish let me know.
It's been a quite artsy week for me. And very much fun. Thanks for everyone participating in crazy artjams, geeky museum visits and funny walks through the city. Current Mood: geeky

08:46 pm - a little blue plushie This blue foxie recently found the way to my room, keeps harrassing my friend Hans and grabs all disney comics, I have. He especially likes those with Godzilla (here I TL 2113-4 ). Maybe bigbluefox knows how to handle him propperly.

This is a plushie I did as a commission. I did pattern, sewing and stuffing. My first custom plushie where I did all of the above. It was sort of a learning project for me.

11:13 pm - Artsee Weekend Done quite some things this weekend. Did some sewing projects and finished a lil something for FPS. Bummers, everyday situations that are just annoying. (Below is an imagemap of the 6 pieces I did.)

And I also found time to scan some sketches and do some digital pieces.
Thanks again to nanook123 for this awesome piece. I tried to ink it and splashed some color on it myself since I need the training. Current Location: home

12:35 am - old crafts I've done many different approaches and materials in the past times. I thought I might as well share some of my work that's still around here.
This was a try with paper maché. It was a first try on animal masks. Since I was too lazy to put some fur on it, I painted it Guy Fox style.
A plushie series I did for a local convention. I was very inspired by the mascot back then and making a plushie actually wasn't that hard, but it took time and creativity.
You should've seen the eyes of the creator of the mascot, when I gave it to her. It was really worth it. I recently asked her about it and the plushie still has a special place in her collection.
This is the original design, I just kept the catgirl version. The other plushies included hats and staffs.
I really forgot how old this plushie is. It was a first try in plushie making and I realized tht doing your own pattern from scratch is harder than it seems, until recently. When I tried out and verified the new technique I'll write a tutorial.
Expect more where that came from.....
There are other plushies I've done too, but most of them were presents of some kind. I also did a bearded dragon and 2 dragon plushies.

12:00 pm - Comic Meetup Had a quite interesting evening yesterday. The comic meetup was incredibly full and it was total fun. People from Rappelkopf came by and there were many austrian comic artists, also some popular ones. One of the many differences to a normal evening at a pub is: People draw, talk about comics and show of their work.
We did a new collab comic, with every panel by a different artist.
one of the best collab comics we've done so far
I saw some really interesting comics from france called Péchés Mignon, that reminded me of an old style of mine. ( some images under the cut ) Current Location: vienna Current Music: bbf mix

06:21 pm - Comic market 10-2009 Comicbörse was a very sweet experience. Met many people and for the first tiem in months I had no plan, what to do. There was an Asterix special so many shops sold them cheaply, I got 2 myself. Also I got lots of Yps,Mickey Mouse, Fix&Foxie and other comics, that just looked fun. I also met many friends that I didn't see for far too long, so I took a lil time to socialize.
Another nice feature at the comic market was a rebuilt ducktown by the austrian LEGO society
Together with a local flea market, this was quite a weekend for comics and french child books.

10:45 pm - Art Update It's been a busy month for me, no real time for much writing. I didn't manage to go to Czech or Slovak yet even though I really wanted to, but physical condition is a bitch right now. But I found the time to draw here and there. My nose gets bigger and bigger :D
Also I could try a lil more watercolor.. I think I found my Zen there

Lately I realized that I'll need a new ref or .. well at least an actual one. My last ref misses all toony aspects. So I started a "That's how I draw my character right now"-kind of reference sheet.
Especially when meeting awesome disney artists, a good reference comes in handy.

03:12 am - a lil art update

03:26 pm - a smile and a *TWACK*
This was done for the Artjam at FPS#423. Sparks' player dashed out in the rain for no particular reason (that I'm aware of) and came back soaking wet .. and smiling broadly. I thought I should capture this moment.
This is a lil giftpic for titash , who really enjoys toony violence. Well... join the club, buddy and have a trout *twack*

12:41 am - Austro-eagle
A lil reinterpretation on the Austrian Coat of Arms. I had some ideas for political caricatures in recent times, so this was only a matter of time (given this interest in heraldics deep in the back of my mind).
